Kathodi

Kathodi a sub-group of the Gond a scheduled tribe. Kathodi known as are concentrated in the Raigad. The name Katkari is derived from the Marathi term kat juice of the khair (acacia catechu) tree. The Katkari known as Kathodi in Rajasthan, have emigrated to this part from Maharashtra.

They are located  Thane districts of Maharashtra mainly settled along the foothills of the Sahayadri range.

 The traditional occupation of the community was ma nowadays, their economy is based on agriculture. Many (daily-wage labourers. They have a community council compri., which settles intercommunity disputes. Sabarkantha and work as forest labourers.

 The Katkari women actively participate in agricultt contribute to the family income by selling seasonal vegetables an at weekly markets. Traditionally they do not accept food and drinks he SC of the neighbourhood. They have positive attitude towards development programmes and availed all the modern facilities.
