The Kutchi people traditionally reside in the Kutch region of the northwestern Indian state of Gujarat and in the Sindh province of Pakistan. Modern day Kachhis have moved out of Kutch to nearby commercial havens such as Ahmedabad, Baroda, and Mumbai, and to neighbouring states such as Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Punjab, while in Pakistan, Kutchi people have migrated from rural areas and settled in urban areas of Pakistan which includes different provinces such as Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab mostly located in Karachi, Hyderabad, Pasni City, Lahore.
The Kutchi language is one of the [Pali-Prakrut]language family. These days most Kutchis live in India, Pakistan, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Canada, the United States, Uganda,and UK. They also speak closely-related languages such as Gujarati, Sindhi and Memoni, especially those living in cosmopolitan cities such as Mumbai and states like Kerala. Also the Kutchi’s who immigrated to the Africa Region have got swahili and those who settled into the U.K have slight phrases in the language.
There are many castes in a typical Kutchi community, such as Rahima (Arbab), Nohriya, Gharana, Lohar Wadha, Hingora, Halaypotra, Sanghar, Jat, Rathor, Khatri, Bhatti, Hingorja, Khalifa, Hala, Memon, Geerahi, Batala, Kumbhar (Kumhar) , Gaanchi, Jakohi, Wahgair, Juneja Wara, Mistri, Lohanas, Nandwanas, Nagar Brahmins, Kutch Gurjar Kshatriyas,[Meghwalh-Marvada,Charaniya,Maheshwari-Barmatipanthi],etc.
The culture of Kutchi people is similar to the culture of Rajasthanis saurashtra,and Sindhis.
Kachhis mainly adhere to the religions of [Barmati-Panth of Dhani Matang Dev], Vaishnav Hinduism, Jainism, and Islam.
